So next month I am turning 40 - first, how the SHIT did that happen? Second I VIVIDLY remember being Em’s age and thinking HOW FREAKING OLD 30 was and now I’m ten years older than what I used to think was the age of extinction…
Funny thing is - I feel BETTER THAN EVER. I could prob stand to lose a few lbs (Ronin is lucky he’s adorable) - and maybe it comes with getting older but I wouldn’t change where I am in this exact moment for ANYTHING in the world.
Call it whatever you want - maybe an Eat Pray Love kinda thing but I genuinely believe as we get older we start looking for MORE. More meaning, deeper relationships and a slower pace. I attribute a lot of the progress I have made in the confidence department to my self love practice.
NOW - if you eye rolled just reading that it’s ok - I used to too. It has this stigma of a super selfish Ms.Lippy type person throwing glue all over her face while we repeat out loud how much we love ourselves. CLOSE but not that close ;)
Self love - to me - is SO much more than surface level stuff (expensive brand labels or likes on IG) it’s a much deeper set of values - an unshakeable foundation and belief that no matter WHO you are or WHERE you’re at in your life that you are loveable, valuable and WORTH just as you are.
How does that translate to real life? It means I no longer judge myself by someone else’s ideals - I can cut my hair, let it grow, lose some lbs, gain some lbs, keep rocking my skinny jeans and side part - because it doesn’t matter; I’m me. It means I will no longer spend time doing things I don’t enjoy, fostering relationships that no longer serve me or work a job that doesn’t light me up JUST so I can be accepted, liked or worse; loved.
It means I appreciate my body for everything it has done for me - carried 3 large babies, fought off shingles and a staph infection and allows me to MOVE it daily. And for that I will treat it good - eat healthy, think healthy and FEEL healthy because that’s when I feel the best.
So it’s definitely a slow process because we stop shoving things under the rug - we actually take them out, brush them off and say “ok I see you. I have learned from this mistake and this scar will forever remind me of things that didn’t work for me” It’s a beautiful acceptance that every failure, every heartbreak and every part of YOU that you have spent your life hating is actually what makes you YOU.
Did I lose you yet? Hope not because here is where the B Team Fit Club comes in!
And trust I get it! A fit club can sound a little hard core - I promise there’s no initiation or anything weird that you have to do! It’s just a private, safe virtual group where everyone can encourage one another towards their individual goals. I’ve seen so much more progress as a result of being a part of a group.
During April and this challenge, we’ll be focusing on self-love and self-care.
We’ll encourage each other in our physical, emotional, and mental goals to live a more balanced life. I will post some daily thoughts and questions, and each of us will be working towards our own specific goals that you and I will work together to set.
The starting point? Deciding you’re worth it (remember my definition of self love!?) and admitting you need a little help in the belief and accountability department -> LUCKILY for YOU this is MY JAM.
I will believe in you RIGHT from the start and this funny thing happens - you start to show up cuz you have some skin in the game and then you start to feel better and eventually start believing in yourself and this switch flips from “Ugh I have to _____ workout, eat clean whatever” to “I cannot wait to workout tomorrow or I can’t wait to try this new healthier recipe etc. etc.
So what EXACTLY is going to go down in the FOR THE LOVE OF 40 group?
You will get weekly meal plans, daily inspiration, hundreds of workouts you can do wherever you get wifi (home, gym, traveling for work etc.) and a place to find support in these WILD times. I know that everyone’s lives are looking a little bit different this winter and I want to be there to SUPPORT YOU!

Exercise: I know I may be a weirdo but working out is my SANITY. I’ve been an athlete my entire life and I genuinely ENJOY working out - I KNOW I am the minority here and ENJOYING working out isn’t a requirement BUT getting your heart rate going and moving that body IS. Beachbody on Demand - or SWEATFlix as I like to call it - has hands down THE BEST workout programs on the planet. They have something for EVERYONE - and most require little to no equipment and come in right around 30 mins. Cardio, Strength, HIIT, Dance, Pilates, Yoga - you name it; I have something for you. When you join the Bootcamp you’ll have the option to work through one of these programs which lays it ALL out there for you. Absolutely NO guesswork. (and Best part is you’re streaming so they’re avail ANYWHERE you got wifi) and theyre designed by the PROS; read RESULTS.
Nutrition. Truth Circle - this is my struggle. I KNOW what to eat - but the damn wine won’t stop calling me from the kitchen every day when the clock strikes 5pm. That being said a STRONG % of your success will come from proper nutrition and keeping that in mind the B-Team Bootcamp has you covered in this dept as well. Shakeology is THE most important part of my meal plan. It’s a meal replacement (or if you’re pregnant or nursing it would be a supplement) made for whole-food sources, packed with antioxidents, superfoods, pro/pre-biotics and SO much more. I have had one every single day for the past 5 years. In that time it has greatly decreased my coffee intake, INCREASED my energy, kept my HANGRY afternoon feelings at bay, replaced my multivitamin AND prenatal vitamin, helped with my digestion, curbed my sweet tooth and perhaps best of all - it’s just delicious. Mindset: Now this is a recent addition to my Bootcamp because it’s taken me awhile to realize your mindset is probably the MOST important component. Your body isn’t going to do ANYTHING if your mind doesn’t tell it to and if you’re telling yourself “you could never do that” or “this is only temporary” well I’m sorry but it is. One of my fav quotes “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right” is my life mantra (for health and other aspects). So we take a little time each week to pour into ourselves with some self love and confidence building activities. DON’T PANIC - I know this can be unfamiliar territory BUT I PROMISE, yes PROMISE, this will be a HUGE factor in establishing a healthier routine - and the activities are doable; journaling, affirmations etc.
And we can’t forget SUPPORT. Accountability is CRUCIAL when going through any sort of life change, let alone a health and wellness program. Luckily this Bootcamp is filled with like-minded people all doing the same thing at the same time. So not only do you get daily tips and tricks on meal planning, prepping, nutrition, fitness etc from me you get Peer Support from others walking the walk - encouraging one another, feeling the losses and celebrating the wins TOGETHER.
